Introduction
Famine impacts a nation when a large number of the nation's citizens are not able to obtain enough food to meet their minimum health needs. This usually results in weight loss, malnutrition problems, reduced mental capacity, a compromised immune system, and an increased susceptibility to sickness, disease, and an early death.

The negative impact of a short-term famine on a person's health can usually be corrected if that person is once again able to obtain enough food on a regular basis to meet their minimum health needs. This assumes the short-term famine did not involve a long period of complete starvation.

Victim of Famine

A long-term famine usually has an irreversible impact on a person's long-term health. It usually causes a permanent reduction in a person's physical and mentally health and it permanently compromises the person's natural immune system. These factors usually result in a shorter life expectancy for the person even if the person is eventually able to acquire enough food to meet his or her minimum health needs.

Since the beginning of time famine has never been completely eradicated from every nation in the world at the same time. Famine has always existed. And it is extremely likely that famine will always exist in at least some areas of the world.

In the 21st century there are some people in almost every nation who have had an intimate, first-hand experience with famine. A large number of the people in some countries have experienced famine for most of their lives and these people have weakened bodies, minimum strength and endurance, reduced mental abilities, and an extremely short life expectancy.

However, for the past 100 years in the United States of America famine is a topic that most people only understand from an intellectual perspective. But very, very few people in the USA have actually experienced a real famine for an extended period of time. Unfortunately the CV-19 virus may result in widespread famine conditions in the USA sometime in the near future. If that happens then most of the people in the USA will not be prepared for it and it could have a very serious negative impact on their lives.

Discussion
The CV-19 virus infects people indiscriminately. It infects males, females, all racial groups, all religious groups, and all professions. It infects children, teenagers, adults, and senior citizens. At the current time the death toll among senior citizens is higher than any other group. And the death toll among children is lower than any other group.

CV-19 could easily remove a key person from the work force in a very short period of time.

A key person is someone who has a job that:

1. Keeps the utility network system working correctly.
2. Keeps the food production system working correctly.
3. Keeps the physical distribution network working correctly.

Some of the people who do the above work are the only individuals who know how to do their specific job. If they are removed from the work force then their job will not be done correctly, or in a timely manner, because there is nobody else who knows exactly what that person does. There are a lot of other people who understand the basics of what that person does but there is nobody who understands exactly what the person does. This means there could be delays in something being done, or something may not be done at all. As long as these types of problems are few and far between then society usually does not notice the person's absence from the work force. However, if 2%, or 6%, or more of these key individuals are absent from the work force then the combined impact of their individual jobs not being done on time, or done correctly, could have a serious domino impact on a large number of the people within a nation.

Please remember that CV-19 infects people randomly. It infects approximately the same percentage of people in all work groups. It infects approximately the same percentage of people who are unemployed. It infects approximately the same percentage of people who are retired. It infects approximately the same percentage of people who have key jobs. In other words, CV-19 does not discriminate.

If the percentage of CV-19 cases begins to increase then it could cause a serious disruption in the food production and food distribution network by infecting a few key people who have important jobs and those people cannot be easily or quickly replaced. If this happens then famine conditions may quickly emerge and spread through an area that is much larger than the geographical area where these key people once worked.

Conclusion
May I humbly suggest that you give the possibility of a nation-wide famine in the USA some serious thought and that you acquire and store some emergency food before a famine makes this strategy impossible.
