Extraordinary Events

On a beautiful Friday morning about 2,000 years before the birth of you or I,
Jesus Christ was beaten, flogged, nailed to a wooden cross, and left there to die.
Around midday after Jesus had suffered a long time under the blistering hot sun,
the sun turned totally dark for three hours and it looked as if the Devil had won.
And then Jesus took His very last earthly breath and with it He cried,
“Father, into your hands I commit my spirit,” and then Jesus died.
Inside the Jewish temple the curtain which concealed the Most Holy Place,
was immediately ripped in half because the law had just been replaced by Grace.
And the earth trembled so violently that many huge rocks were split asunder,
because its Creator had just left it to visit with the souls down under.
The dead bodies of many holy people were restored to the life they knew before,
and they walked out of their tombs and into Jerusalem to testify once more.
The Roman centurion soldier who witnessed these events was truly terrified,
and when he spoke he said “Surely this was the Son of God” who has just died.
With all these extraordinary events, and so many others, confirming His Deity,
Jesus must be the Only Begotten Son of God, and therefore in Jesus I believe.
Reference Scripture Verses
Luke 23:44-47 - It was now about the sixth hour, and darkness came over the whole land until the ninth hour, for the sun stopped shining. And the curtain of the temple was torn in two. Jesus called out with a loud voice, "Father, into your hands I commit my spirit." When he had said this, he breathed his last. The centurion, seeing what had happened, praised God and said, "Surely this was a righteous man."
Matthew 27:50-54 - And when Jesus had cried out again in a loud voice, he gave up his spirit. At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shook and the rocks split. The tombs broke open and the bodies of many holy people who had died were raised to life. They came out of the tombs, and after Jesus' resurrection they went into the holy city and appeared to many people. When the centurion and those with him who were guarding Jesus saw the earthquake and all that had happened, they were terrified, and exclaimed, "Surely he was the Son of God!"
Mark 15:37-39 - With a loud cry, Jesus breathed his last. The curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. And when the centurion, who stood there in front of Jesus, heard his cry and saw how he died, he said, "Surely this man was the Son of God!"
